Description: Designed for children from 6 months to 2 years of age, being conducted with the parent present in the water. In a seahorse class the emphasis is on water awareness, safety skills and floatation.

From 2 years of age.
Description: Caters for children 2 years or older with the aim of building water confidence and safety. In an environment with up to 4 children for a 30 minute period the main focus is developing the child’s movement through the water. To progress from this level the child must be able to show confidence and ability to submerge their face and swim unassisted for 2 metres with their face submerged.

Description: Penguins continue to develop their confidence and ability to be independent in the water with a strong emphasis on body position. Children will be progressed from paddling, to underwater arms with an introduction to basic overarm freestyle.
For progression children need to show the basic foundations of freestyle and backstroke technique.

Description: In this level there is particular emphasis on independent swimming. Freestyle breathing is introduced along with backstroke arms.
Graduation from this level requires both controlled freestyle and backstroke arms with an understanding of the concept of turning to breathe. Children must also be able to demonstrate proficient water safety skills.

Description: Stingrays learn to combine all the components of both freestyle and backstroke. They develop freestyle with a particular focus on correct arm technique and breathing, and backstroke technique focusing on body position and correct hand entry.
To graduate this level children must swim 1 lap freestyle of the LTS pool with correct arm and breathing technique, along with 1 lap backstroke of the LTS pool with correct body position and arm technique.

Description: With an introduction to the 25 metre pool and deeper water, Eels refine their freestyle and backstroke techniques. Students are also introduced to breaststroke kick.
To advance to the next level children must be able to complete a 25 metre lap of both freestyle and backstroke whilst holding technique. They must also demonstrate proficient breaststroke kick.

Description: Barracudas further refine their technique in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke kick. There is also an introduction to breaststroke arms with correct timing and butterfly kick. During this class the instructor spends the majority of the time outside the water.
Progression from this level requires 50 metres of both freestyle and backstroke with correct technique, as well as 25 metres of breaststroke with correct technique and timing. They must also be competent completing 25 metres of butterfly kick.

Description: In Kingfish the main aim is to increase student’s endurance also with polishing off their strokes. Students get introduced to butterfly arms and aim to complete 25 metres of butterfly. This level is designed to prepare the students for squad.
Assessment by the coach is required for progression to squad.

Class Times: Classes are held Monday to Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings during the school term. This level is also offered during the Holiday Intensive Program.
Development squad consists of up to three 45 minute sessions a week. Sessions are designed to introduce swimmers to swimming in a squad environment, teach them the necessary skills such as understanding swim sets, and prepare them to compete at school swimming carnivals. Sessions are supervised by Rod in a social, team environment.
Bronze Squad consists of up to six one hour pool sessions per week. It is designed to set the foundations for competitive swimming with the aim of progressing swimmers through the school swimming system or towards metropolitan and state qualification. Sessions are supervised by Rod in a squad format with the use of the pace clock. General Aerobic Fitness, Technique and Skills are developed at this level, including reading the session on the squad board and mixing and communicating with other squad members.
Senior Squad consists of up to eight 90 minute pool sessions per week, depending on the swimmers age, as well as an introduction to sport specific dry land work. Sessions are designed as an early development towards National Age Qualification or for swimmers who are highly motivated to train and compete. Sessions are designed to teach swimmers higher level technique and skills, whilst developing Aerobic and Endurance capacities in a social team environment.
